Fire Punch★7
manga · completed · apr 2026
i don't know what the fuck i'm reading. this shit is so weird. i love the visual i guess.
but what's interesting is that i think i'm inspired by the mind behind the story, the author, like how the fuck can he be so expressive, exploratory, and just be free making whatever this is. my brain can't comprehend it. i kinda want to be like that and understand it.

masterpiece i think(?) goddamn inspiring and somewhat relates to my high school days but not as severe. i wish i could become kurosawa, i wish i had the realization kurosawa had when i was at high school.
it was iniitally a slow burn tho

good god.
so he actually was an ESP initially, showed by ito guppy, first yakuza pinky sickle, yakuza toy gun at the end. but he slowly loses his mind because 2 holes are too many eventually (?).
the moment nakoshi went for the second trepanation drilling another hole into his skull i stopped reading for a moment. that scene was insanely awful, in a good way.
is the ending tried to tell us how self centered nakoshi is? if you recall, "nanako" (not actually his ex) explained his situation really well about how he just talks about him and only him. hmm, this is still a surface level analysis tho, it all began from his sad reality, being born with an ugly face, not to mention his own dad that said it in his childhood leading to a delusion that convinced him that he doesn't have a father.

8/10 because it's not 6 like amigara fault and not really 7 because it's not that bland.
I can only say that it's a weird experience reading this and kirie is stupid, after the first few accidents and how many warnings from suichi she should've escaped sooner, suichi too. man all the people there are stupid, and the government didn't do anything wtf. they sent fucking warship and after it's missing there is no further response?
all the body deformation, those kinda illustration makes me want to puke. not sure if it's because I'm reading this in a car tho, not to mention on mbz toll road.
after reading this am I intrigued to explore more junji ito's work? hell no, not for me. but am I glad that I finally tried reading this? I guess, not really, I don't know.

I'm at loss for words. This manga is heartbreakingly touchingly beautiful.
I'm gonna have to talk about it and not writing it first thing to reorganize my thoughts. 10/10.
what's also insane is that before reading this I watched a beautiful mind and latest vsauce comeback video about our ghost. the former is about schizophrenia, maboroshi you can't see, and the latter covered a point about leaving legacy. damn.

maybe this kind of horror is not for me. after reading I was just like, damn, okay.
but i see the appeal of the hole, bad wording, but you know, intrusive thoughts

not bad, normal. a little insight to kurta clan but doesn't really go too much deep into their history.
massacre only headline no detail story

really interesting and unique story.
are we inside the film all along? it's not really a big point honestly. i just love how the one shot capture the emotions, how it feels to film a dying loved one.
i won't forget the very first moment i saw the hospital explosion scene, it was so absurd and funny, and in the end of the volume it was a cherry on top.
i want to believe that eri is really a vampire and ..
wait, no. if the ending is real, then the explosion doesn't make any sense. i think it was just the final sayonara eri that yuta came up with. what a ride.
...
i thought the girl with the headband was eri, it was not? who is she? but now, this makes more sense. i thought eri was lying.

the first book i finished. a really good book for someone who's always in confusion about what to do in their day to day life, just like me then. it showed me the real effects of habit, which might come as obvious to some, but not me, now habits are part of my life.

my first few manga and already an insane read
in the end it's all about humanity and how it keep advancing, doing the unthinkable, and "keep on drawing".
the way the author tells it in retrospective, damn, it's a hell of a ride. conspiracies, jfk, hitler, cia, jesus christ, xavier, disneyland, 911, ninjas, etc.
guessing who is billy bat, what even is he, which one is he black or white, who is the villain, the true goals.
naoki urasawa has got be one of the best author of all time. I've only watched monster, I'll 100% going to read his other works.
good billy bat interpretation
